Gamers,
There were some great experiences that your children gained from the website - www.education.com/games. These next couple of weeks, I would like for all of you to browse your Microsoft store (everyone should have an account or access, if not, you live under a rock) and type in "educational" in the search box. When you get to the next page, select whichever platform (PC, Xbox, Mobile, etc. - there is even an option for HoloLens?) you would like to use and choose a game that you may find entertaining. Please share the name of the game and your experiences in your post.
P.S. If you have HoloLens, please share that experience as well.
SO I went to PC and found some more games for my "Strong Ranger" to practice... This time, as I listen to him struggle through his reading practice and frustrating the hell out of his Mom, I chose sight words for him to practice.The game was good practice for him, he did well, and he had fun. learned and had fun... who could ask for more. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

ReplyDeleteWe selected the gaming platform of Xbox in this platform they have an Educational Games for Kids pack that has 51 variations to educate in a multitude of ways. It has games that test your reflexes to ensure you enhance your eye and hand coordination, it also has a platform to test your critical thinking and logic and it also has games that teach math problems and makes it fun while learning. Lastly it develops the child’s memory and knowledge by giving them problems to solve. I think this is a great game that enhances the development of a child’s mind and reflexes when playing the game.

DeleteThe Xbox platform is very popular with children, along with PlayStation and Nintendo. However, you would be surprised how interconnected Xbox is with everything made by Microsoft.

ReplyDeleteSo I crawled out from under my rock and got an account so I could see what all the hype was about. When I did the search I saw tons of games I didn't recognize until I came across chess! I was not aware it was considered educational but I am not surprised. I started playing when I was six and it taught me a lot about patients and strategy. It helped me think about more than just my next move. It's a game that never repeats it's self. and is always making you think. The cool thing is this educational game was around before apps and computers.

DeleteChess is always a fun game, strategizing to beat your opponent. Most of what we do as a profession is much like playing chess but I must admit, I am not very good at playing wargames, only executing the mission. So, I guess that makes me a pawn? Well, I prefer the knight.

ReplyDeleteSo I downloaded Word Search Pro which is listed under educational games for the iPhone. I can see how it would be educational since it works on your eye coordination with finding the words buried in the text. I don't really put games on my phone since I prefer to read on the kindle application if I have time. The game started pretty simple but got harder. I will keep this on my phone since it can be a nice distraction. Thanks for your post.

ReplyDeleteSince you have informed us of the endless possibilities of online gaming for educational purposes, my nephew who was having problems with math in school was able to Microsoft and download Math Bot. This game allowed him to improve his math skills and comprehend the material better. Just wanted to say thank you for your posts about educational games.
